Can you help advise the right tower crane for my project?
Yes, our team of experts can advise on the best tower crane (or cranes) for your site based on the building shape, height, length and width. What is your response time to breakdowns?
Where possible our technicians will diagnose and resolve the issue over the phone, if site attednance is required they will aim to be on site the same day with the necessary parts.
What is the difference between a ballasted base and expendable base?
Tower cranes can sit on a ballasted base which sits above ground and is weighed down with concrete blocks. An expendable base is a set of legs that are concreted into the ground. Expendable bases are common on sites when space on site is restricted, while ballasted bases can be a more cost-effective option.
How do I power a tower crane?
Tower cranes can be powered on mains power or generator, each tower crane has different power requirements. We can provide the hire of generators and accessories that reduce noise pollution and fuel consumption. Speak to a member of our team regarding power requirements and generators.

Yes, we have extensive experience working on sites in close proximity to Network Rail and understand and comply with Network Rail requirements.
How tall can I stand a tower crane?
This depends on the type of tower crane, the type of base and whether the crane is freestanding or tied to the building. Our team can advise the best solution for your site. Watch the video on perhaps the tallest freestanding luffer in the UK at 105 metres
How much disruption will you cause erecting the tower crane?
The time taken to erect a tower crane on site will vary according to the size of the tower crane and the proximity of the mobile crane lifting the tower crane sections. A medium sized tower crane will take 2 days to erect and test. Having an expendable base / fixing angles makes the crane installation faster than a ballasted base.
How much space do you require on site to erect a tower crane?
Space is needed for the mobile crane and the lorry which is being unloaded. We also need to assemble the front jib on the ground so we can lift it into position in one piece.
Can we carry on working on site while you erect the tower crane?
We require an exclusion zone in the area that we are working – usually 20m around the tower crane position plus the working zone of the mobile. The exclusion zone is extended when the jib is being lifted into position.
How do you erect a tower crane?
Sections of the tower crane arrive on site on 45′ flat bed articulated lorries. They are lifted off the lorries using a mobile crane and then lifted into the tower crane position in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. The front jib is assembled on the ground and then lifted in position in one piece. Please see our video on installing a tower crane.
